Madison
Golf Club opened for play in January 2000.
I established the routing plan and residential parcels
during a weeklong site visit.
Subsequently, I worked with Perry Burr, of Resort Design
Associates, a multi-disciplinary architecture and planning firm
from San Francisco.
The
site was mostly low and wet.
Fortunately, there are large, sandy hills that rise
abruptly out of the low lands that were ideal for residential
homes. In the low areas, where the golf holes can be easily viewed
from the higher home sites, we designed ponds and wetlands to
improve the site’s conditions.
In one low area, I surrounded a residential parcel in
water, and then in golf. This
parcel can be found amongst holes #8, #9, #17, and #18.
The golf course
community is a part of a larger plan that includes a small,
boutique style hotel that will carry the prestigious Rosewood
name. This hotel is
located across the road from the course, and sits on the banks of
the Rio de Plate, which separates Argentina from Uruguay.
Additionally, there are plans for a polo field and soccer
field near the practice range. |
