| Kelly Blake Moran, a serious golfer
since age ten, graduated from Texas A&M University
with a degree in landscape architecture in
1984.
Ten days after graduation,
Kelly began his apprenticeship in golf course architecture with von Hagge
Design Associates, eventually becoming a full design partner before his
departure in 1995. In the same year, he formed Kelly Blake Moran Golf
Course Architects, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Kelly
established his reputation as an architect on nationally and internationally recognized
courses like
Tres Vidas Country Club
in Acapulco, Mexico, which is the site for the Senior
PGA Tour Chrysler Cup, the Senior's "Ryder Cup". The event was televised
live by ABC, and referred to by commentators as the most significant course to be
designed in Mexico;
the Buenos Aires Golf Club
in Argentina, voted best course in
Argentina by Golf Digest, and host to the prestigious Argentina Open, won by Mark
O'Meara;
and, the Bay Colony Golf Club in Naples, Florida, chosen as the site for the LG Classic,
an annual Senior PGA Tour event.
Few principal architects are involved in a
project from beginning to end. Yet, Mr. Moran has established a land-based
design approach that puts him at the center of all aspects of the design
and implementation of a new golf course. This approach has made him highly
sought after by clients wishing to have their course custom designed and
built to their site.
